Isolation and Characterization of Feline Wharton’s Jelly-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Wharton’s jelly is a well-known mesenchymal stem cell source in many species, including humans. However, there have been no reports confirming the presence of cells cats. The purpose this study was to isolate (MSCs) from cats and characterize cells. In study, feline jelly-derived (fWJ-MSCs) were isolated successfully cultured. fWJ-MSCs maintained proliferative potential measured by cumulative population doubling level (CPDL) test, scratch colony forming unit (CFU) test. Stem marker, karyotyping immunophenotyping analysis flow cytometry showed that possessed characteristic markers. To confirm differentiation potential, we performed osteogenic, adipogenic chondrogenic induction under each condition. has ability differentiate into multiple lineages, differentiation. This shows cat can be good addition, may useful for cell-based therapeutic applications medicine.
